Chapter Member Spotlight - Mark & Micki Babineaux
I’ve been riding since my High School days, (in other words a long time). The first scooter that I had was a Vespa. Then in “73” I graduated to a Yamaha. As the years flew by, I went to a CB 360 Honda, a 500 Suzuki, and then a Honda 750 ACE. I kept that Honda for 10 years and rode it 7,500 miles.
Finally, after our daughter Amanda graduated from college and got married, my wife Micki, said that I have always wanted a Harley, and now was the time to buy one. My first Harley-Davidson was a 05 Heritage, Softtail. I really did love that bike. In the 7 years I had it, I put in 75,000 miles. The reason for the mileage was I started riding with the HOG Chapter. I went from short rides to the store and riding alone to riding with the new friends we had met, to rides all over the place.
After 14 yrs. in Cajun HOG Chapter, I’ve held the positions of Photographer, Head Road Captain, Assistant Director, Director, and ultimately a Lifetime Member of HOG. I’m on my fourth time as a Rally Events Coordinator. I am currently a member of three riding clubs. Two of them are with HOG Chapters and one is with the Blue Knights LA IX.
After my 2005 Heritage, I seemed to be the in a Bagger mode. Next came a 2011 Street Glide, 2013 Ultra Classic, 2014 Ultra Classic, then finally 2017 Ultra Classic. All my motorcycle purchases have been with Cajun Harley-Davidson.
Micki and I loved our two-week trip to Sturgis with trips to Arkansas and riding in Florida. We also spent time in Helen, Georgia where we did the Tail of the Dragon, and the Cherohala Skyway.
I have also ridden two 1,000-mile Iron Butt rides averaging times of 18-19 hours each. And one Iron Butt when we rode 1580 miles in 28.5 hours (Orlando and Back)
We love being members of the Cajun HOG Chapter.
